He’s a mercenary, he has a mouth, he can’t be dead, but still no pool. Deadpool’s mind is so warped even Professor X once had a bad time entering it, and by bad time, I mean he died for it.
Created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, Deadpool’s first comic appearance was in New Mutants #98 (December 1990). He was initially depicted as a super villain of the New Mutants and the X-Force in the comics, becoming the antihero we see now much later.
Always with his fourth wall breaking power, coupled with his hyper regenerative abilities and craziness, the merc with a mouth quickly became a fan favorite, quickly gaining his own self-named series in 1994.
After his disastrous depiction in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), it was Ryan Reynolds’ second portrayal of the character, in the 2016’s Deadpool movie, that really made a blast among fans and newcomers alike. Let’s get to see more about his movies and Iron Studios’ high quality action figures that come with them!

Deadpool (2016)
Did you know that a 3 minute test reel was shot in January 2012 in an attempt to convince the heads of Marvel's studios to move forward with the movie? On August 1st 2014, the footage was released to the public, and based on the overwhelmingly positive response from fans the film was put into production.
During the opening scene, the writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are credited to be “the real heroes here”!
With the premise to be faithful to the Deadpool in the comics, Ryan Reynolds helped in the production and marketing of the movie, even dressing-up and impersonating the character himself to promote the film in various videos and short takes online. He did that in a way to cheaply promote the movie, as it received a very short budget ($58 million) in comparison to other superhero productions.

Making a $782 million box office, it became the ninth-highest-grossing film of 2016 and broke numerous records, including that of the highest-grossing R-rated film at the time.
Ryan Reynolds was even mentioned in a 2004’s Deadpool comic by the character himself! In Cable and Deadpool #2, Deadpool says that “if you looked like Ryan Reynolds crossed with a shar-pei, you’d understand!”. That was what inspired Reynolds to want to play the character so much!
Deadpool 2 (2018)
Announced 3 days before the release of Deadpool (2016), and with nearly double the budget of the first film one’s budget, $110 million, the sequel went to outgross the first film, with a $785 million box office, breaking records again.
Fans made a petition for Quantin Tarantino to direct the sequel, but we know it didn’t work out, who knows how different the movie could be?
In the sequel’s opening scene, this time, the writers are credited as being “the real villains here”, while this movie was also the first Marvel movie not to feature a Stan Lee cameo.
Deadpool and Wolverine (2024)
After Hugh Jackman stating that he was done with playing the Wolverine after Logan (2017), he then regretted the statement when watching the first Deadpool movie, saying he “felt in his gut” that he needed to do it alongside Reynold’s portrayal of the merch with a mouth!
Deadpool and Wolverine is the first R-rated movie in the MCU, officially integrating Deadpool’s story into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Reynold’s brought his entire family to be alternate variations of Deadpool! His wife, Blake Lively, portrays Ladypool, the sexy female version of him, while their kids play Kidpool (Inez Reynolds), Babypool (Olin Reynolds) and Betty Reynolds is credited as “Hugh Jackman wrangler”.
Deadpool dreams of being part of the Avengers, so much so that there is a scene where he goes to have an interview with Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) before the events of Avengers: Infinity War to join them. He gets turned down, but Happy gives him a motivational speech to continue doing what’s good.
Portraying Dogpool, Peggy (her real life name), was first on the spotlight for being Britain’s Ugliest Dog, initially was very shy on set, but quickly started to love filming. She even walked the red carpet at the Deadpool and Wolverine premiere in New York City!
